Bayelsa Youth Group Urges Tinubu to Revive Agge Deep Seaport Project
A Bayelsa youth group has urged President Bola Tinubu to revive the abandoned Agge Deep Seaport project, saying the delay has denied the Niger Delta jobs and economic opportunities. The group said the proposed port could create more than 50,000 direct and indirect jobs in maritime services, logistics, transport, construction, fishing and related businesses. It also argued that the port could ease pressure on Lagos ports and expand trade across the South-South region. It called on the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, the Nigerian Ports Authority and other relevant agencies to review the project's status and begin funding and implementation. The group said the investment could provide opportunities for unemployed graduates, fishermen, boat operators and coastal communities.
