Lagos Couple Sentenced to 14 Years Each Over ₦67.6m Property Fraud
A Lagos Special Offences Court in Ikeja has sentenced Harry Uyanwanne and Oluwakemi Odia to 14 years’ imprisonment each over a ₦67.6 million property fraud. Justice Mojisola Dada convicted the couple on charges of conspiracy, stealing and obtaining money by false pretence. The court ordered them to refund ₦67,659,592 to the petitioner. They were discharged on the forgery count. The prosecution said the couple falsely claimed they were authorised by beneficiaries of a late man’s estate to sell a property on Murtala Mohammed Way, Ebute Meta, Lagos, for ₦16 million. The court held that the case was proved beyond reasonable doubt. The ruling follows a separate 2024 conviction involving an alleged ₦52 million fraud case linked to Temple International Church.
