Hundreds Protest in Abia, Demand Nnamdi Kanu’s Release
Hundreds of residents of Afarukwu, Abia State, staged a peaceful protest demanding the release of IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu, who is serving a life sentence on terrorism-related charges. Protesters marched through community roads in traditional attire, carrying banners and chanting solidarity songs. Kanu’s counsel, Alloy Ejimakor, urged South-East governors to seek a political resolution with the Federal Government while Kanu’s appeal continues at the Court of Appeal. The protest comes amid continuing arguments by Kanu’s supporters, community leaders and civil rights groups that the matter should be resolved politically to ease tension in the South-East. I still wonder how he is expected to rule people who neither elected nor appointed him. Na Nigeria we dey.
