Lagos Police Launch Anti-Thuggery Campaign, Warn Youths Against Electoral Violence
The Lagos State Police Command has launched a Campaign Against Political and Digital Thuggery during its International Youth Day 2026 Peace Walk. The campaign urges young people to reject electoral violence, cultism, drug abuse, cybercrime and online intimidation. Commissioner of Police Tijani Fatai warned that politicians often recruit youths for violence while shielding their own children from its consequences. He urged young Nigerians not to sacrifice their futures for temporary political rewards. Representatives of transport workers, phone sellers, youth groups and security stakeholders joined the walk and pledged to promote peace. The command said youths should refuse any attempt to use them for ballot-box snatching, thuggery or other election-related crimes.
