FG Arraigns Three Men Over Oyo School Kidnappings and Terror Charges

The federal government has charged three men for the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State. They face a 10-count charge including terrorism, kidnapping, concealment, incitement and unlawful gold mining under the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act and related laws. The suspects—Abdulrazak Umar, Yunusa Musa and Shamsu Adamu Sani—are accused of conspiring with others between January and May 2026 to kidnap pupils and staff. They allegedly concealed information about the plot and professed membership of a banned group. One defendant is also charged with running a radical WhatsApp group to train and incite terrorism. He faces additional counts for cybercrime offences and illicit gold mining in Suleja, Niger State. The trio will appear in federal court next week as investigations continue.
