Lagos Commissioner Urges Celebrities, Influencers to Stop Supporting Agberos

Lagos State Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, has urged celebrities, influencers and residents to stop supporting street urchins, popularly known as agberos. Wahab said the government has continued to apprehend and dislodge street urchins across Lagos. However, he said money and patronage from members of the public can encourage them to return to the streets and treat the activity as a source of income. He called for public cooperation in curbing street begging, lawlessness, insecurity and environmental nuisance. The appeal follows renewed enforcement operations against suspected street urchins and beggars in parts of Lagos.
