Akure Man Sentenced Over Theft of ₦140,000 Worth of Tomatoes

An Akure Magistrates’ Court in Ondo State has sentenced a 26-year-old man to 12 months’ imprisonment after he pleaded guilty to stealing four baskets of tomatoes valued at ₦140,000. The court heard that he was asked by his employer to deliver the tomatoes to a driver at Ilesa Garage but allegedly sold them and kept the proceeds. The magistrate also ordered him to repay ₦140,000 to the complainant. The court ruled that failure to make the payment would result in the prison term being enforced.
