Fintiri Pardons Nine Adamawa Inmates, Commutes Death Sentence to Life Imprisonment
Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has pardoned nine inmates in correctional facilities across the state to mark Nigeria’s 2026 Independence Day anniversary. The governor also commuted the death sentence of Saidu Abdullahi, an inmate at the Yola Old Custodial Centre, to life imprisonment. The decisions followed the recommendation of the state Advisory Committee and took immediate effect after the required legal formalities were completed. The pardoned inmates were held in custodial centres in Jos, Numan, Jimeta, Ganye, Guyuk, Yola Old and Kojoli.
