Paul Heaton is an English singer-songwriter best known as the lead vocalist and principal lyricist of The Housemartins and The Beautiful South. With The Housemartins, he scored major UK hits including “Happy Hour” and the 1986 chart-topper “Caravan of Love”. After The Housemartins split in 1988, Heaton formed The Beautiful South with drummer Dave Hemingway. The group became a familiar name in the 1990s with songs such as “A Little Time”, “Rotterdam (Or Anywhere)” and “Perfect 10”, before disbanding in 2007. Heaton later released solo material and began a successful recording partnership with former Beautiful South vocalist Jacqui Abbott. Their collaborations include Manchester Calling and N.K-Pop.
