Okorocha Challenges Uzodimma’s Imo West APC Primary Victory in Court
A dispute has emerged over the APC’s Imo West senatorial primary held on May 18, 2026. An alleged INEC monitoring report is said to list former Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha as the winner with 150,780 votes. This differs from the result declared by the party’s returning officer, which named Governor Hope Uzodimma winner with 230,464 votes and credited Okorocha with 1,098 votes. Okorocha’s court filings reportedly give another set of figures, placing him ahead of Uzodimma. Okorocha has asked the Federal High Court in Abuja to direct INEC to recognise him as the APC candidate for Imo West. The authenticity and legal effect of the documents will be determined during the court proceedings.
