Florida Man Indicted for Alleged Plot to Mass Shoot Jewish Nonprofit Staff
A 27-year-old Gainesville man has been indicted on charges of planning a mass shooting at a pro-Israel nonprofit in South Florida. Federal prosecutors say he aimed to target Jewish employees at a Washington-based lobbying group’s local office. Investigators traced his movements using cellphone data and say he arrived armed with a silenced AR-15 rifle. Authorities allege he left home with two rifles and a pistol after writing a note to his family. He was stopped by police on Christmas Day while driving a rideshare vehicle, but no arrest was made until days later when he agreed to an interview. He reportedly admitted he was prepared to kill himself or carry out violence if he was caught. If convicted, he faces life in prison for the hate crime count, up to 30 years for the firearm charge, and five years for possession of a short-barreled rifle.
