Nigerian Teen Jailed Seven Years in UK Over Violent Robbery and Blackmail
A 19-year-old Nigerian, Oluwatobiloba Akinrinola, has been sentenced to seven years in prison in the United Kingdom for his role in a violent robbery and blackmail operation targeting party guests in Leicestershire. Leicester Crown Court heard that victims at a November 2025 party in North Kilworth were threatened with a knife, robbed of clothing and phones, and ordered to transfer money. Some were forced to perform dances that were recorded for social media. The court also heard that victims who did not pay were later summoned to student accommodation, where they were assaulted and humiliated. Akinrinola was convicted of robbery, blackmail and actual bodily harm. Co-defendant Richile Vangu, described by the court as the organiser of the attack, received an 11-year sentence and a further three years on extended licence.
