Police, Soldiers Block Retired Military Personnel’s Pension Protest at Defence Ministry

Armed police officers and soldiers prevented retired military personnel from gathering outside the Ministry of Defence in Abuja on Wednesday. The ex-servicemen had planned to protest the non-implementation of consequential adjustments to their pensions. More security personnel were deployed as the protesters attempted to move towards the ministry’s entrance. The intervention followed an earlier confrontation between serving soldiers and the retirees over the planned demonstration.
