DBN Secures $61m AfDB Credit Line to Expand Funding for Women-Led MSMEs
The Development Bank of Nigeria has launched DBN Action for Women in Nigeria (DAWN), an initiative aimed at helping women-owned businesses access finance, credit guarantees, technical support, grants and market opportunities. The bank also signed a $61 million gender-focused credit line with the African Development Bank to expand lending to female entrepreneurs. The support will target businesses in agriculture, exports, healthcare, technology, creative industries and green enterprises. DBN said it had disbursed N1.4 trillion to MSMEs through 84 participating financial institutions as of December 2025, supporting about 1.6 million jobs. Under its new five-year strategy, the bank plans to reach more than two million MSMEs, with focus on women-led, youth-led and underserved businesses.
