Before a Second Term, Tinubu Should Present a First-Term Scorecard
President Bola Tinubu is entitled to seek another term, but Nigerians are equally entitled to examine his first term before deciding what comes next. His administration says the removal of the petrol subsidy and foreign-exchange reforms were necessary to repair the economy, despite the hardship they caused households and businesses. That claim should be assessed with clear evidence, not campaign slogans. Nigerians deserve a public scorecard showing what was promised, what was delivered and what fell short. It should address inflation, jobs, security, electricity, education, healthcare, public spending and the condition of major projects. Economic indicators matter, but so does daily life. Before another mandate is requested, the government should explain when ordinary Nigerians can expect to see lasting improvements in food costs, transport, rent and other essentials.
