Limpopo Teacher Arrested for Alleged Rape of 18-Year-Old After Phone Confiscation

A 56-year-old teacher in Limpopo was arrested after allegedly raping an 18-year-old student on school premises. The incident followed a dispute over a cellphone confiscated during an examination. According to police spokesperson Malesela Ledwaba, the teacher seized the student’s phone and demanded money for its return. When she returned with payment, he allegedly led her to a restroom and committed the crime. The suspect appeared before the Mahwelereng Magistrates Court and was remanded in custody. He is due back in court on March 25 as investigations continue.
