Riley Moore Highlights Deadly Attacks in Nigeria, Urges US–Nigeria Response
U.S. Rep. Riley Moore discussed Nigeria’s security situation in a recent interview on Newsmax. He shared findings from a report submitted to the White House based on insights from his visit. Moore cited a Palm Sunday service attack that killed 40 worshippers and a Kaduna wedding ambush that left 13 Christians dead, attributing both to Islamic extremist militants. He also described displaced Christians living in IDP camps under constant threat. He noted that 200 U.S. military personnel are training Nigerian forces, that MQ-9 Reaper drones are deployed, and that a recent Tomahawk strike targeted ISIS and Boko Haram in the region. Moore urged the Nigerian government to act swiftly or face direct U.S. intervention if it doesn’t “step up to the plate,” and he presented recommendations for closer U.S.–Nigeria cooperation.
