Customs, EFCC, NDLEA and Others Step Up Joint Fight Against Cross-Border Money Laundering
The Nigeria Customs Service has strengthened collaboration with six federal agencies to combat cross-border illicit financial flows, money laundering, corruption, drug trafficking and terrorism financing. The three-day engagement, held from 27 to 29 October 2026, involved the EFCC, NDLEA, Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit, Nigeria Immigration Service and the National Counter-Terrorism Centre. Officials discussed intelligence sharing, border-control measures and closer coordination. Participants identified communication gaps, bureaucracy and database privacy concerns as barriers to effective cooperation. A World Customs Organization mentoring team also shared approaches to anti-money-laundering and counter-terrorism financing efforts.
