NDLEA Opposes Bail for 10 Suspects in Alleged ₦480bn Ogun Meth Lab Case
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has asked a Federal High Court in Lagos to deny bail to 10 defendants charged over an alleged clandestine methamphetamine laboratory in Ogun State. The defendants, including seven Nigerians and three Mexican nationals, are accused of being connected to the production of 2,419.48 kilogrammes of methamphetamine at Iloti Village, Ogun State. They have pleaded not guilty. The NDLEA argued that the suspects pose a flight risk, citing alleged international links and the dual Nigerian-Mexican citizenship of the first defendant. Defence counsel said the defendants are presumed innocent and can provide reliable sureties, while some also need medical attention. Justice Akintayo Aluko fixed September 2, 2026, to rule on the bail applications.
