CCB Opens Offshore Asset Probe Into Peter Obi, Saraki, David Mark and Four Others
The Code of Conduct Bureau has opened investigations into seven people named in the Panama Papers and Pandora Papers over alleged offshore companies or assets. Those named include Peter Obi, former Senate Presidents Bukola Saraki and David Mark, former Aviation Minister Stella Oduah, former Delta State Governor James Ibori, retired judicial officer Stella Ogene and the late former Bayelsa State Governor Diepreye Alamieyeseigha. Owning an offshore company is not automatically illegal. However, public officers are required to declare their assets and face restrictions on running private businesses or holding foreign bank accounts. The bureau may bring cases before the Code of Conduct Tribunal if it establishes violations.
