Are Nigerian Tech Creators Solving the Right Problems?
I will go straight to the point: I do not think society needs more products that look impressive but solve no real problem. A rotating laptop may seem innovative, but what value does it add if it is not useful, beautiful or practical? Many people are dealing with a deeper problem: disconnection. We are often judged by what we have or do, rather than by our fears, struggles and humanity. That is why social games and platforms built around connection can quickly become popular. When last did you sincerely compliment a stranger, make someone feel valued, or allow yourself to experience genuine happiness? We often complain that life is unfair, yet we may withhold the kindness and openness we expect from others. Whatever role we occupy in society, we should ask what problem we can help solve. Instead, too many people are chasing empty ideas. I believe Nigerian tech creators need to focus more on meaningful human problems.
