NDLEA Arrests Newlywed at Enugu Airport Over Alleged 72 Cocaine Wraps
NDLEA operatives arrested a 25-year-old businessman at the departure hall of Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, on September 25. He was preparing to board an Ethiopian Airlines flight to Portugal through Addis Ababa, according to the agency. The agency said he was placed under observation after officers suspected he had swallowed cocaine. It alleged that he later passed 72 wraps of the drug. The suspect, who reportedly married on September 13, claimed he entered drug trafficking to repay expenses from his wedding. He had reportedly lived in Portugal since May 2023 after running a car-decoration business in Lagos.
