Taiwo Oyedele Denies Federal Government Plans to Introduce Fuel Tax
Taiwo Oyedele has dismissed reports that the Federal Government plans to introduce a fuel tax once the economy improves. He described the reports as false and said no such levy is on the government’s agenda. He said his comments during a television interview were misinterpreted. According to him, imposing a fuel tax under current economic conditions would be insensitive, particularly after the removal of the petrol subsidy. Oyedele added that the focus should be on growing incomes faster than prices and strengthening economic stability, rather than placing further pressure on petrol consumers.
