Family of Slain Mobile Police Officer Demands Investigation in Plateau
The family of Abdulrahman Auwal, a Mobile Police officer killed in Plateau State, has called on the Inspector-General of Police to investigate the circumstances of his death. Auwal was reportedly attacked on Kwi-Beco Road, between Barkin Ladi and Riyom local government areas, while travelling on a motorcycle on October 8. His mother said the rider survived and should explain where they were going, who stopped them and how Auwal was attacked. The officer was buried at Zaria Cemetery in Jos on October 10. His family also expressed concern that, four days after the incident, they had not received a condolence visit from police authorities or his colleagues, and no official statement had been issued.
