Eight Killed as U.S. Army Corps-Chartered Plane Crashes in Alaska

A small plane chartered by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers crashed in western Alaska on Thursday, killing all eight people on board. The twin-engine Cessna 441 was flying from Anchorage to a remote aircraft-tracking radar site near Cape Newenham, about 450 miles west of Anchorage. There were two pilots and six passengers, including two Army Corps employees. Investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration are examining the crash. Foggy weather was reported in the area, while the wreckage is being moved for further investigation.
