Osun Police Chief Pledges Action on Thuggery, Motor Park Disputes and Cultism
Osun State Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Zungura says political thuggery, disputes over motor park management and cultism are among the key security challenges confronting the state. During separate visits by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and the Osun NUJ Online Media Chapel, Zungura said the police were strengthening intelligence sharing, coordinated operations and community policing. He said officers had been directed to identify cultism flashpoints and prevent further breaches. The commissioner said nobody, including political office holders and local government chairmen, is above the law. He warned that anyone linked to violence or other unlawful acts would face legal action. Journalists also raised complaints of alleged extortion of motorists on routes around Osogbo and intercity roads. Zungura was urged to investigate the allegations, while both sides pledged to support accurate reporting and public safety.
