A 1926 Newspaper Advert for an Ibadan Vulcaniser Shows Early Auto Repairs in Nigeria
A 1926 edition of a Yoruba newspaper carried an advert for Isaac F. Karunwi, a mechanical engineer who operated Brookley Garage on Onireke Road, Ibadan. The garage offered vulcanising services for inner tubes and tyres. It also repaired motors, portable engines, sewing machines, typewriters and gramophones. The advert stated that the business was established on January 1, 1918, offering a glimpse into Ibadan's early automobile and repair industry.
