A 37-year-old businessman has been arraigned at the Chipata Magistrates’ Court in Zambia over allegations that he sexually abused a 13-year-old girl who was in his care. The defendant faces two counts of defilement, which he denied. Prosecutors allege that the incidents occurred in April and June 2026 while his wife was away in Lusaka to give birth. His wife told the court that she became concerned after returning home and noticing changes in the girl’s behaviour. She said the child later disclosed the alleged abuse. The case remains before the court.
