Army Colonel Killed in Abuja as 16 Die in Fresh Benue Attacks

A Nigerian Army colonel, Abdussalam Ude, was reportedly shot dead during a suspected kidnapping attempt at his home in the Kurudu area of Abuja. His wife, driver and security guard were injured and are receiving treatment. In Benue State, armed attackers reportedly invaded farming communities in Otukpo and Kwande LGAs, killing at least 16 residents and injuring others. The assaults also caused damage in the affected communities. The separate incidents have renewed concerns about insecurity in Abuja, Benue and other parts of Nigeria as security agencies investigate and search for those responsible.
