Akpabio, Natasha Yet to Respond as Activist Releases New Audio Allegation
Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Kogi Central Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan have not responded to a new allegation by US-based activist Sandra Duru, also known as Prof Mgbeke. Duru released a nine-minute audio recording which she said showed that Akpabio engaged her to campaign against Akpoti-Uduaghan. The claim conflicts with her earlier allegation that the Kogi senator offered her money to make accusations against Akpabio. The recording and the identities of the voices heard in it have not been independently verified. The dispute has continued since 2025, when Duru and Akpoti-Uduaghan exchanged allegations and the senator later petitioned the police. In January 2026, an FCT High Court restrained Duru and Meta from circulating allegedly defamatory material against Akpoti-Uduaghan pending the hearing of the substantive case.
