Army Chief Launches Wargaming Centre, Urges Practical Solutions to Mass Abductions
Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu has tasked military strategists at the new Army War College Wargaming Centre in Abuja to develop practical tools against the rising wave of mass abductions. He warned that fear of kidnapping is keeping many parents from sending children to rural schools. He urged the college to study how state policing proposals and better inter-agency coordination could speed up responses during abduction incidents. The COAS stressed the need for innovative approaches beyond conventional operations. He asked for strategic tests of rapid-response options, assessment of required assets and evaluation of decision-making processes before deploying troops. The new centre will support professional military education, research, operational analysis and concept development. Shaibu expressed confidence it will become a centre of excellence for strategic wargaming in Nigeria and across Africa.
