Army Clarifies: Electronic Intel Shared with US, Not Seized by American Forces
The Nigerian military has dismissed recent claims by a senior US counterterrorism official. Brig-Gen Samalia Uba explained that the electronic materials came from declassified files of past Nigerian operations. He said they were voluntarily handed to US forces under an ongoing security partnership. This was not a new operation or an independent US seizure of enemy data. Nigeria’s forces have coordinated joint missions with the United States since May, and cooperation remains on course. The clarification responds to comments by a US National Security Council official who claimed American forces killed 199 jihadists and recovered an unprecedented cache of electronic intelligence in Nigeria.
