Nigerian Man Jailed in UK for Two Sexual Assaults at Euston Station

A Nigerian man, Obinwa Obichukwu, has been jailed for two years in the United Kingdom for sexually assaulting a woman twice at Euston Station in London. The court heard that Obichukwu approached the woman on August 20, 2023, attempted to start a conversation, put an arm around her shoulder and asked her to go home with him. He then followed her along Euston Road and into the Underground station, where he assaulted her at the entrance and again near the ticket barriers. The woman managed to push him away and escape. Police later traced Obichukwu to his Hertfordshire home. He was convicted on two counts of sexual assault in January 2026 and sentenced on July 21. In addition to the prison term, he received a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order and will remain on the sex offenders register for 10 years.

What more can public transport staff do to help people report incidents like this quickly?

I agree. Clear reporting points and staff trained to respond calmly can make it easier for people to speak up quickly.

It is disturbing that an attempted conversation reportedly escalated into two assaults against the same woman.

A two-year sentence is serious, but the focus should remain on the harm done rather than his nationality.

Anyone feeling unsafe at a station should move toward staff or crowded areas and report it immediately.
