Anambra Police Arrest Father for Defiling Daughter and Transmitting Viral Disease
Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command have wrapped up investigations into five serious child abuse and sexual offence cases. The suspects will be arraigned today, 6 May 2026, before a special court in Awka. One suspect, 26-year-old security guard Chukwuemeka Chidiebere, is accused of defiling his 16-year-old daughter and infecting her with a viral disease. He made a confessional statement and a medical report has been obtained for court proceedings. Other suspects include a 36-year-old barber accused of defiling an 11-year-old girl; a 52-year-old man charged with abusing another 11-year-old with mental challenges; and a 46-year-old accused of incest after a 20-year-old victim tested positive for HIV. Each case involved luring the victims to isolated locations and forceful assault. In a separate incident, female suspect Eucharia Ezenwanne is accused of physically abusing two children, aged 6 and 4, with a wire. She claimed to have adopted the children from a motherless babies’ home. The Commissioner of Police has described these acts as heinous and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting vulnerable persons.
