Deadly Bandit Raids in Katsina Kill 14, Injure Many
At around 8 pm on Tuesday, armed bandits stormed Dansoda village in Dandume LGA. Residents had just broken their Ramadan fast when gunmen opened fire, killing 11 people and wounding several others. The victims were buried according to Islamic rites the next morning. Later that day at about 6:10 pm, attackers struck Jikamshi village in Musawa LGA. They injured 14 people before a joint security team arrived. Three victims later died in hospital, and 11 remain under treatment. Witnesses say the bandits looted shops and made off with goods worth millions of naira. The Katsina State Police condemned both attacks and promised a full investigation. These raids come after a recent peace deal that saw the release of about 70 suspected bandits, a move that sparked public debate.
