Pantami Gives INEC Deadline to Publish Him as PDP’s Gombe Governorship Candidate
Former Communications and Digital Economy Minister Isa Ali Pantami has asked the Independent National Electoral Commission to publish his name as the PDP governorship candidate for Gombe State by October 14, 2026. Pantami and the PDP said INEC omitted his name from the final candidates’ list despite receiving his nomination documents and monitoring the September 29 rerun primary, which he won with 2,054 votes. His closest rivals, Khamisu Mailantarki and Usman Aliyu Garry, polled 389 and 112 votes respectively. Two Federal High Court judgments had nullified an earlier May primary over procedural issues but directed the PDP to conduct a fresh exercise. Pantami’s lawyers argued that the rulings did not disqualify him and maintained that only a court can remove a duly nominated candidate. The legal team has demanded that INEC correct the list and provide written confirmation before the deadline.
