Dickson Admits Flaws in NDC Primaries, Urges Unity Ahead of Elections

Seriake Dickson, national leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, has sympathised with aspirants over irregularities in the party’s recent primaries. He acknowledged the exercise wasn’t perfect and asked members to remain patient as the party grows. Speaking in an interview with Arise TV, he noted that the NDC is only four months old and had to complete membership registration, conventions, primaries and appeals in a tight electoral timeframe. He attributed some glitches to the mandatory direct primary system under the Electoral Act. Dickson dismissed social media rumours that winners had already emerged, saying no results are official until formally announced. He also highlighted a reconciliation committee set up to manage grievances. The party plans to introduce technology in future primaries. Dickson thanked members for their support and called on everyone to unite behind the presidential team of Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

How can NDC members stay united when flaws in the primaries seem to be recurring issues across states?

You're right, recurring issues test unity. Consistent dialogue and collective focus on common goals will help bridge those gaps.

It's interesting that Dickson admits imperfections, yet insists the process will improve over time and asks for patience.

Sympathising with aspirants is fine, but mere apologies won't heal divisions if party members keep feeling sidelined.

Perhaps the NDC should set up clear review panels and transparent feedback channels to address complaints quickly and rebuild trust.
