Police Testimony Reveals How Augusta’s Decomposed Body Was Found in Boyfriend’s Home
A police inspector from Ajah Police Station told a Federal High Court in Lagos how she discovered the decomposing body of 21-year-old Augusta Onuwagbagbe in her boyfriend Benjamin “Killaboi” Nnayereugo’s residence. The witness, Inspector Odunayo Oloye, said she first responded to a missing person’s complaint on July 15, 2023, after Augusta’s mother lost contact with her daughter following a dispute. Inspector Oloye described using a ladder to peer through an open upstairs window where she smelled a foul odour and later confirmed Augusta’s identity from a photo shown by her mother. She asked Augusta’s uncle to verify the scene before arranging for the body’s evacuation alongside her Divisional Officer and a patrol team. A handwritten note and the victim’s vehicle were recovered as evidence. During cross-examination, defence counsel challenged details about who first climbed the ladder and the number of people present. Justice Ibironke Harrison admitted the handwritten note into evidence and adjourned the trial until early July 2026 for continuation.
