Troops Rescue Six Kidnap Victims, Recover ₦800,000 in Katsina
Troops of Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued six people abducted by terrorists along the Dandume-Sheme Road in Katsina State. The troops reportedly responded to a distress call on August 22, 2026, after terrorists intercepted a vehicle and abducted its six occupants. They engaged the attackers, who fled into nearby bushes and abandoned the victims. All six victims were rescued unharmed. The troops also recovered ₦800,000 allegedly taken from them and handed the money and vehicle back to the victims in the presence of the Dandume Divisional Police Officer. In a separate operation along the Maraban Kankara axis, troops engaged fleeing terrorists and recovered a motorcycle. The task force urged residents to continue sharing timely information with security agencies.
