Adeleke Alleges EFCC Froze Osun Account Without Court Order, Plans Legal Challenge

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission of directing a bank to freeze a state government account without obtaining a court order. Adeleke described the alleged action as unlawful and a threat to the constitutional rights of state governments. He said the state received a notice from its bank stating that the restriction followed an EFCC directive. The governor also alleged political intimidation of members of the Accord movement, including arrests, raids and detentions. He claimed that more than 60 members were taken to Abuja and accused former governor Gboyega Oyetola of being behind the alleged actions. Adeleke said he has instructed the Osun State Attorney-General to challenge the account freeze at the Federal High Court in Osogbo. The EFCC and Oyetola's side had not responded to the allegations in the report.
