TOAN Alleges NURTW Collects ₦15,000 Daily Levy From Lagos Tricycle Operators

The Tricycle Owners and Operators Association of Nigeria (TOAN) in Lagos alleges that some tricycle operators are being compelled to pay daily levies of up to ₦15,000 to the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW). TOAN coordinator Comrade Agbadia Kamonsuru Alagba says the levies are being collected while invoking President Bola Tinubu’s name. He says the payments are worsening the financial strain on operators seeking to run independently. The allegation highlights an ongoing dispute over union control, autonomy and levies within Lagos’ tricycle transport sector.
