Should Yoruba Population and Economic Strength Shape Nigeria’s Political Structure?
I believe Enugu’s reported ₦400 billion internally generated revenue in 2025 shows that every state can build a stronger revenue base. In my view, population figures, revenue capacity and the current constitutional structure should be reassessed fairly. I argue that Yoruba populations across the South-West, South-South and North-Central are often underestimated in political discussions. I also believe zoning should reflect all major population groups, including Yoruba communities in the North. Ultimately, I argue that the Yoruba have the population, economic capacity and institutions to thrive with greater political autonomy if Nigeria’s present structure does not offer fairness.
