Kwara Monarch Dies Days After Rescue From Kidnappers
The Onigbesi of Igbesi Land, Oba Moses Oyinloye Iwedunmoye I, has died days after he was rescued from kidnappers in Isin Local Government Area of Kwara State. The monarch reportedly died early Saturday while receiving treatment in hospital. His son said he became ill shortly after his release from captivity. Oba Iwedunmoye was abducted on August 22 after gunmen invaded Igbesi community. He was rescued five days later alongside two other victims after a joint operation involving police officers, military personnel and vigilantes around the Elerin/Ijomu-Oro axis. During the operation, security operatives exchanged gunfire with the suspected kidnappers. One suspect was reportedly killed, while others fled the area.
