PalmPay Reportedly Seeks Takedown of KudiWave Coverage Over ₦750.37m Dispute

PalmPay Limited has reportedly asked media outlets covering its dispute with KudiWave Technologies Limited to remove published reports, with communications said to include warnings of possible arrest if the stories remain online. The dispute centres on ₦750,369,439.04 removed from KudiWave’s PalmPay account on July 15 under the narration “Judicial Adjustment.” PalmPay says the transfer was made under a June 29 court order, while KudiWave argues that the funds were moved while its application to set aside that order was still pending. On July 22, the Federal High Court in Lagos reportedly vacated the June 29 order and directed that restrictions on KudiWave’s account be lifted. PalmPay later wrote to the police requesting that the funds in a designated recovery account be returned to KudiWave. KudiWave has also challenged PalmPay’s reported claim that the account ownership and company address were unknown, presenting account documents and evidence of previous dealings. The reported takedown demands have now raised fresh questions about press freedom and the handling of the underlying financial dispute.
