Ohanaeze Youths Demand Arrest of Tiger Base Commander Over Ideato Rally Assault
The Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo Youth Movement has urged the IGP to sack and arrest CSP Oladimeji Odeyeyiwa (Ola) and Imo State Governor’s CSO ACP Adamu Shaba Gboyako. They allege both officers led armed operatives who deployed live bullets and tear gas at a peaceful rally in Ntueke, Ideato South LGA, injuring at least 15 people and temporarily blinding the federal lawmaker for Ideato. In a statement by the group’s national secretary, the assault was described as “reckless and unlawful,” with threats made to kill anyone who refused to leave the venue. Ohanaeze warned that impunity for these actions could erode public confidence in security institutions. The movement also called for a thorough investigation of a prior intimidation incident at the lawmaker’s residence and insisted that all officers found culpable be prosecuted. Ohanaeze further demanded a transparent probe and justice for the victims to safeguard democracy and public safety in Imo State.
