APC Chieftain Predicts Runoff in Nigeria’s 2027 Presidential Election
APC chieftain Osita Okechukwu has predicted that Nigeria’s 2027 presidential election may go to a runoff, with no candidate meeting the constitutional threshold for an outright first-round victory. Speaking in a newspaper interview, Okechukwu said President Bola Tinubu, former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi should not be presumed capable of winning on the first ballot. He argued that zoning and power rotation would shape voting decisions across the country. According to him, these considerations could limit Atiku’s support in both the North and the South and make a runoff necessary.
