Abuja Police Kill Two Bandits, Rescue Five Kidnap Victims

At least two suspected bandits were shot dead during a rescue operation in Paze and Byazhin communities of Bwari Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory. The FCT Police Commissioner led a joint team of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, Intelligence Response Team, Kubwa Area Command, local hunters and vigilantes. Suspects identified as Icheh Mohammadu and Abubakar Usman were arrested after a shoot-out on Tuesday night. Police recovered two AK-47 rifles and rescued five kidnapped residents, including a pastor. A vigilante member had been killed when the gang first struck last week. Search efforts continue for other fleeing suspects. The force has called on hospitals and the public to report anyone seeking treatment for gunshot wounds under suspicious circumstances.
