Lagos Arraigns Over 100 Suspects Over Victoria Island, Lekki and Ajah Disturbances
The Lagos State Government has arraigned more than 100 suspects before the Special Offences Mobile Court in Bolade, Oshodi, over alleged breaches of public peace in Victoria Island, Lekki and Ajah. Prosecutors said the defendants were arrested between 2am and 4am on Friday, September 4, 2026. They face charges including breach of peace, conduct likely to cause a breakdown of law and order, and unlawful conversion of government property. Some defendants pleaded guilty and were sentenced to one and two months of community service or imprisonment on separate counts, with the sentences to run consecutively. Those who pleaded not guilty were remanded but granted bail with two sureties each. The state said mobile court sittings would continue across Lagos to ensure prompt prosecution of public-order, environmental and traffic offences.
