JAMB Alleges 2025 UTME Top Scorer Chinedu Okeke Manipulated Identity for Dual Admissions
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has issued a statement addressing online claims in the case of Chinedu Okeke, the top scorer in the 2025 UTME. The Board insists it upholds strict data integrity and institutional accountability. JAMB clarified that Okeke is originally from Amuwo-Odofin LGA in Lagos State, not Anambra as widely reported. He used his Lagos-based National Identification Number (NIN) in 2021 to gain admission into Medicine and Surgery at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, where he is now a 400-level student. The Board questions why a near-graduate in Medicine would switch identity and course to Mechanical Engineering in 2025. JAMB denies retrieving incorrect data from NIMC in 2021 and says evidence shows Okeke altered his original records before registering for the latest UTME. JAMB will continue treating Okeke as a legitimate student pending university verification, but it has alerted the Medical and Dental Council to potential irregularities. The Board reaffirms its commitment to transparency and rule-based operations.
