FBI Raids Ghana Scam Compound, Arrests More Than 130 Suspects
The FBI says more than 130 people were arrested or detained during a raid on a suspected scam compound in Ghana under Operation Blackout. FBI Director Kash Patel said investigators identified nearly $10 million in losses and 89 victims. Authorities also seized more than 300 devices. Some of those detained were trafficking victims who will be repatriated to their home countries. The FBI said the wider operation has led to the arrest of hundreds of suspected scammers, the rescue of thousands of trafficked workers and warnings to more than 10,000 potential victims before they lost money. Investigations are ongoing.
